Illuminate ignorance & live empowered
Ignorance is a result of world experiences that come from family, community, and society as well as individually.
I believe that ignorance is genuine and a person cannot be judged for being "ignorant" because it is not their fault that they are NOT AWARE of something about their world, their planet, or their position in life.
Illuminating individual ignorance promotes empowered actions because once ignorance is identified then accepted; or challenged...change for the better is possible and probable.
The satisfaction that results from acknowledging ignorance, pursuing truth and seeking understanding is significant and addicting.
- ENJOY THE PROCESS! -
Too often the media and culture misconceive ignorance as stupidity. Stupidity is thinking/acting in a way that is understood to be wrong. Ignorance is thinking/acting in a way that is believed to be right by the person but wrong according to scientific evidence.
Consider scenario: If I were to make constant eye contact with a person from a culture that perceives eye contact as a challenge rather than a greeting I would be acting ignorant because I was raised by parents and in a community within a culture that believes eye contact demonstrates truth, genuine intent, and connection.
After being made aware (educated) about the culture and perception of my actions I can modify my acting/thinking for the next experience.
I would be acting stupid if I continued to to make confrontational eye contact.
I would be acting empowered if I modified my behaviors out of respect and understanding of the consequences of my actions.
